PIANO LESSONS ONLINE

REQUIREMENTS

For succsesful remote piano lessons you will need the following:

the appropriate instrument available at your location. An acoustic piano or a 76- or 88-key weighted electronic keyboard (as a substitute for an acoustic piano)

a smartphone (iOS or Android), tablet (iOS or Android), or a computer with webcam and mic (PC or Mac). While not required, we recommend using a smartphone or tablet (instead of a computer).

a reliable, high speed (1.5Mbps and faster) Internet connection services. While not required, for best results, it's recommended that during your lessons, others in your household refrain from accessing the internet.

Planning for online music lessons:

Place your computer/camera so that you and your instrument can be easily seen and heard.

Ensure that the lighting is bright and diffuse. Avoid back lighting (from windows or lamps) that will make your face to be seen dark.

Set up in quiet space with minimal background sound to avoid distractions and disruptions.

If possible, use a cable connection rather than Wi-Fi to provide a faster and more reliable internet connection.

Ask other people sharing your Wi-Fi to refrain from activities that require large bandwidth (e.g. streaming videos, gaming) during your lesson.
