Recitals, Concerts and Audition Opportunities for Students.

Generally, all of my students have the opportunity to participate in two recital per year - usually provided in late December (Classics and Songs of the Season) and early June (Polished Pianist). In addition, there are numerous performance opportunities you can find below. Although all recitals and auditions are optional, they are an important part of the learning process, and allow students to build their confidence, develop performing skills, and demonstrate their level of proficiency.

Celebration of the Great Composers

The series originated as a way to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth in 2006. Luba along with the support of other local piano teachers, continued the tradition. The concert series is a great opportunity to bring young pianists to SU’s Concert Hall and give them the unforgettable experience of public performance. In addition to learning about a variety of composers, students also gain experience in understanding concert etiquette and audience participation.
In the past, the concerts have featured music of Bach, Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin, Liszt, Tchaikovsky, Verdi, Wagner, and French composers. In early spring of 2017, The Great Composers recital acknowledged the piano works of women composers around the world, particular Russian women guest composer Viktoriia Babaeva.

Celebration of Great Composers on March 15th, 2020 will feature works of Ludwig van Beethoven. Please, do not miss this opportunity to support young pianists and to meet the composer

American College of Musicians, National Piano Guild Auditions in Salisbury

Piano Guild Auditions in Salisbury take place once a year, usually right after the Memorial Day, at the Salisbury University Music Department, Fulton Hall. With the Piano Guild Auditions, students play against a standard of excellence and do not compete with other students. To this regard, the audition serves as an annual musical “check-up” under an outside adjudicator. There are several levels at which a student can enter based on the level of music mastered in weekly lessons. IT IS NOT BASED ON GRADE LEVEL. An enrollment fee is involved which covers the cost of the judge, diploma, report card, and pin received by every student that achieves a passing mark. The program is flexible and includes repertoire as well as technical goals (musicianship phases).
